We want to work with the best players possible, but the personal character traits of each player must meet our standards as well. We accomplish this balance through on-the-field evaluation and by spending a lot of time getting to know the players we bring in. We are honest with every player—we never over-recruit or make promises we won’t keep. We believe the college soccer experience is about the players and not us, so we provide as much information as we can to help each player and their families. We want every student-athlete we bring in to have a great experience and do not try to convince players to join us by telling them what we think they want to hear. We genuinely care about each player, their goals, and their aspirations—both on and off the field. We believe our program is different from most in this approach. 

We focus on each player’s individual growth and help each person become their best self. All this leads to a great team dynamic, a positive team culture, and a

winning environment— experienced on a daily basis. Our players push each other to be better, doing so by competing with, not against one another. Our players are given abundant feedback in an honest and caring way to ensure they always know where they stand and how they can improve. Each player in our program meets weekly with members of our coaching staff to check in and make sure their overall well-being is in balance. Our players also excel in the classroom and in the community. Our team GPA is consistently above 3.5 and we spend hundreds of hours each year in volunteer opportunities. 

This holistic approach helps develop strong, caring, and confident young women who make an impact
on and off the field with everyone they interact with. When it is time for them to move on, they leave a legacy that the other players carry on, and they are ready for whatever comes their way next because of their time with the Castleton women’s soccer program.
